In class over the passed couple of days, I’ve worked with a
couple of peers on a large sheet of green butcher paper to
jot down as many “bad ideas” to solve issues we had
thought of at the time. Although it seems, during the
process quite pointless and silly, it is a common
technique artists and creators use to brainstorm their ideas.
When we hear a song on the radio or read a book
we tend to criticize or praise the song or book based on
what we are sensing at that current moment. While there is
nothing wrong with voicing our opinions about an artist’s
work of art, sometimes we need to realize how many
drafts, demos, versions the artist has gone through to
result with his or her final masterpiece.
